| Prepare an Easy Lattice Crust. | ||
| Peel, core and slice 1/4" thick: | 8-10 apples | |
| Preheat oven to 450° F. Place apple slices in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with: | ||
| 1/2 tsp. almond extract | ||
| 2 tsp. lemon or lime juice | ||
| 1/2 C. raisins | ||
| 1/2 C. granulated sugar | ||
| 11/2 T. cornstarch | ||
| 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon | ||
| 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg | ||
| Stir until apples are well coated. | ||
| Layer apples into pie shell; dot with: | 1 T. butter, thinly sliced | |
| Cover with top crust. Bake 10 min. at 450°, then reduce heat to 375° and bake an additional 35 min. | ||
